I know Rabbi Rodal mostly from his good work. While I encountered him in the community from time to time, I had the pleasure of working with his Son Chesky at Pinskers. Chesky was very good at dealing with customers at the counter. My nephew Aaron attended the Yeshiva Schools and always to this day carrys a strong sense of Jewish identity which carries into his family life. I will always be grateful for that. I would assist at the Shabbos Services which were run by Rabbi Eli Seidman and where Rabbi Rodal was the Torah Reader. He was patient with me as it would be years before I became more proficient at my task. After the services, he always had a vort or a joke that would bring a smile to my face. After the Torah reading and service, he would spend a half hour going over the Rashi commentary for the portion. He was a good man.
